A Golden Hour For Spring Break

This past weekend was pretty chill… I meant to go check out to the Guggenheim Museum on Saturday since it’s ‘pay what you want’ from 5:45-7:00pm. But my monthly monster arrived. Annnnnnd I decided to stay in around my hood because I was feeling crampy and crabby which was probably the best decision I could’ve made because…

I ended going to watch Spring Breakers and I have to say… I really enjoyed it. From an artistic approach, the movie was beautifully shot and edited… Almost poetic in some scenes. The music was on point. Like seriously … ON POINT. James Franco is a scene stealer and although he is a villain … He somehow manages to bring a touch of vulnerability to his character. Okay, I take that back. As I think about it, James Franco’s character is not a villain … More like a “gateway drug.”
Yes … there is ALOT of T&A (titties and ass–sorry grams). I mean Hey, It’s Spring Break. And this film is all about taking the stereotypes about Spring Break to the extreme. But there is sooo much nudity going on that it doesn’t even phase you. The director, Harmony Korine, does a great job of making you question the glorification behind the ideal of Spring Break that America’s youth view as a rite of passage thanks to MTV.  I personally never went on a Spring Break trip while in college and the movie makes me glad I didn’t. Just about everyone in the film is looking to escape from real life through various methods (in this case: Spring Break) only to realize that their dream of a good time might actually be worse than reality.
Annnd that’s all I’m gonna say about the movie. Go watch the film for yourself. Don’t get thrown off by the previews with James Franco and his cornrows ;)
After the film, I came back home just in time for Golden Hour.
I just LOVE my apartment when the sunsets …
Watching the sunset everyday never gets old.
It’s almost therapeutic at times.

Sunday was supposed to be my spring cleaning day but it didn’t happen thanks to PMS a.k.a. pissy moody syndrome. Instead, I went to TJ Maxx and bought some new workout gear and applied for some jobs. And then, I ate pasta and a whole carton of Haagendazs Mango Sorbet ice cream. Don’t even get me started on my chocolate cravings!
Westabio Out! {How was your weekend?}

  • Such beautiful golden hour shots! I've been thinking about Spring Breakers, but I wasn't sure. Now I might just have to check it out!

  • That IS a beautiful sunset!

  • I love the pictures of your windows and the light! What cool moments to capture. It looks like a very peaceful place.

  • Such beautiful sunset pictures! There are so many cramped buildings in the area of LA I live in that I don't get to see them often.

    And Spring Breakers totally creeps me out since the girls are Disney and ABC Family stars. I don't wanna see them naked lol! So weird that the blonde girl and James Franco are dating.

    Thanks for linking up!

  • i DO too get the golden hour but it get's cock-blocked by the house in front of me. boo. not as pretty as yours with the NYC skyline surrounding the beautiful golden color.

  • First of all, I love your nail color! Second, I actually think Spring Breakers is playing in the movie theaters here and I had no idea James Franco was in it! I will definitely go see it :)
