Snow Date With My Tripod & Remote Control

You guys, my cunning fox of a husband has outwitted me once again and I can’t even be mad at him this time. This past Christmas, Charles gifted me with a tripod and remote control for my camera. And you know what that means, right? It means that Charles is officially a free man… Free from me nagging him to take pictures of me all the time because “I can now take pictures of myself, BY myself.” So much for having a blogger boyfriend husband ;)

I got my first chance to play around with my tripod and remote control last week with our first snow day of 2015. We woke up last Tuesday to a winter wonderland and a text message from our job’s alert system saying that offices had been closed for the day! My first thought was to go back to sleep but then I remembered I was supposed to work on taking more opportunities to get out and shoot with my camera. So of course, I roll over in bed and say to Charles, “Babe. Want to go out and play in the snow with me?” which is pretty much code talk for “Want to go outside and take pictures of me?” Charles didn’t miss a beat and responded with, “Nope. That’s what I got your tripod and remote for. Go play with them in the snow.” He then rolled over and promptly went back to sleep haha. So out into the snow I went…

I had forgotten how much fun it was to play in the snow… FRESH snow that is. I don’t get down with snow the day after it’s fallen… There’s always doggy doo doo hiding somewhere under the fluff by that time.

On another note, I’m sure you can see things are looking a little different here on Quaintrelle! I felt that with the new year, it was time for a little design makeover to mark the occasion. A big thank you to Phil over at Pipdig for helping me customize one of their pre-made blog designs to my liking. I kept my favorite elements of the previous design and took a more subtle approach in how they are incorporated into this new design. For lack of a better word, the whole look feels more… Mature? You know, same blog. Just more grown up, if that makes any sense. I still have my “about” & “advertise/pr” pages to update and a few cosmetic edits to make but in the meantime, feel free to click around and let me know what you think! Happy, Happy Hump Day! :)

  • I love how much fun you had playing with yourself in the snow (I tried re-wording this sentence a few times, to make it sound less dirty, but it is what it is, lol)! That's one thing i miss about Christmas up north, it just doesn't feel quite the same around the holidays without some snow.

  • These pictures are so cute! Love Charles' response haha and the new blog design is great and looks really clean

  • i love these!! clever hubby ;) i have a remote but never used it, probably because i don't own a tripod… haha. i would love to play around with it though, these are so fun! x

  • You are the best….these pictures made me smile and laugh. Charles is a smart man…he got to sleep in and you went out like a crazy person…a good crazy person. Ha! I would have been with Charles. And I love the new design….it does look more mature! ;)

  • You look like you were having a ton of fun. I think it was a good gift (even if it gets him out of helping) :)

  • This is actually a great idea – I'd love a tripod with a remote control! (Although I'd settle for just a tripod in general at this point!) So jealous you got to play in the snow – I haven't seen snow in the longest time and I miss it dearly!!

  • I envy you! I want the weather and the beanie. Your shots are adorable. Glad to stumble upon this blog!
