Taking Stock

Taking a little break from all these travel & food posts with a quick real time update. :)

eating//
Fage greek yogurt and a banana for breakfast every morning. I’ve been eating this combo everyday for breakfast since January and still haven’t gotten sick of it. My favorite Fage flavor? Peach.

feeling// a little out of it when it comes to grad school. I think I’ve been checked out these past couple of weeks, just doing the basic work that needs to be done instead of going above and beyond like I usually do. But I’ve got to check back in asap, like forreal forreal, especially after I turned in a paper yesterday that I’m pretty sure was the worst thing I’ve ever written. I’ve got about 6 weeks left of the semester which means now is the time to get my shit together and turn things around… Don’t get me wrong. I love school. I just strongly dislike homework. #gradschoolproblems

drinking// Lot’s of water. I’ve been starting my day off with 2 big glasses of water and another 2 glasses right before I go to bed. Throughout the day, I try to re-fill my water bottle at least 3 times while at work. At first, it felt like I was going to pee on myself all the time. But I think that my bladder is finally adjusted to the amount of water I’m sipping because I’m no longer rushing to the bathroom every 10 minutes.

practicing// deep breathing and meditation. Inhale through the nose. Exhale through the mouth. Relax my tongue down so I’m not pressing it on the roof of my mouth. Repeat.

learning// how to put money into my savings and NOT take it out or transfer it into my checking account. Just because it’s there, doesn’t mean you should use it Setarra. Just say no and let it grow.

planning// a surprise. Can’t say what it is right now. But I promise to share it with you once the covert plan has been accomplished.

lusting// after this bathing suit. I’ve always been a bikini kind of gal but this one piece is calling to me for all the right reasons.

reading// artsjournal.com – a great resource for anyone interested in reading new articles pertaining to the arts.

cooking// ALOT! Charles and I have been bringing lunch from home instead of eating out at work to save money. This means there’s alot of food prepping going on every Sunday to get our meals together for the week. Our secret weapon? Our crockpot! Love that thing sooooo much! We’re mass producing meals like a boss!

listening// to Kendrick Lamar‘s new album, To Pimp A Butterfly. I love it. The album is on repeat on my Spotify.

working// OUT. I am officially on week 7 of the T25 workout series and am finally starting to feel and see some changes with my body! I think my cardio stamina has improved alot and my stomach is toning up very nicely. Funny thing is I’ve actually gained weight but it’s because I’m developing muscle which weighs more than fat. Despite gaining weight, I’ve actually dropped a pant size! This girl is now wearing a size 8 pant instead of 10! Woot woot!

loving// how my butt is shaping up with all these squats I’ve doing in T25. It’s definitely sitting alot higher these days. Charles is a big fan of the transformation as well.

contemplating// getting my hair trimmed annnnnd going RED. Ok, ok. More like an auburn, reddish brown. I’m turning 28 in a couple of weeks and this approaching milestone has got me feening for a change. What do you think? Can you see me with red hair?

Anywho, that’s all I’ve got for today. How are things on your side of the online world?

Wishing you a Happy Thursday, Almost Friday!

  • I've been trying to really drink a lot of water and I've been eating the same breakfast too. It helps me stay healthy!

  • Awesome! Keep it up Helene! I've found that making little changes here and there to my diet is alot easier to maintain than making drastic changes. 3 cheers for keeping up with our health goals!

Greek yogurt and a banana = classic breakfast :)! And I had no idea that relaxing your tongue while meditatively deep breathing helps, but I tried it just now and it feels completely different! :) great tip, thanks Setarra!! Aaaaaand I think you would look bomb with auburn hair ;)

  • You'll rock auburn/red. I'm very in need of highlights myself. I hate having my hair be one solid color. I need to get back on the fitness train. I fell off hard a couple months ago.

  • Happy to share but all the tongue credit goes to my yoga teacher haha! She always tells our class to relax the tongue off the roof of our mouth during sivasna because it creates inner tension that we aren't aware of. So I've been trying to apply those tips to daily life. As for the hair, now I just need to decide if I'm going to color my hair from a box or drop the cash for a professional to do it :)

  • Thanks Michael! Your vote of color confidence is the push I need to just do it, instead of think about it haha. Also, get back on that fitness train girlfriend! You/ me/ we can do this! Maybe use Jamaica as motivation to get back in game?? :)
