Left my SLR camera at home this past weekend… I tend to do that when I’m hanging out with my friends. It’s alot more lowkey and keeps the vibes informal which is how I like it. My photos might not be as crispy but it’s all good. A little blur never hurt nobody.
But anyways, today’s post is all about this past weekend where in we celebrated my girlfriend’s awesome accomplishment of attaining her bachelor’s degree with a little bit of clubbin and alotta bit of grubbin.
We met up at Ozio’s
in D.C. and found our way to their rooftop bar where we danced the night away. I must confess the clubbin part had me feeling a little rusty… I can’t remember the last time I put on heels to go out dancing with my girls! By the end of the night the balls of my feet were in so much pain but it was totally worth it because I had such a great time!
^^ From left to right: Peach, Camesha (the graduate!) and Tia. We all met each other on the first day of our freshmen year in college and have been the best of friends ever since. 2015 marks 10 years of friendship! Love these ladies so much! <3
Sunday: Charles and I stayed in bed until 1:00pm before we finally got up to shower, get dressed and make our way out to Camesha’s family barbecue, our first barbecue of the year! I don’t know about you but I love barbecues and will never turn down an invitation to go if invited to one. Burgers and burnt hot dogs (the blacker and crispier, the better)… Ugh yea, I’ll never say no to that.
^^ Our friend, Shannon, baked the most bangin s’more cupcakes! So good!
Monday: Charles and I spent the day running errands. We went grocery shopping, picked up around our place and did some laundry… You know, grown up stuff. It was a pretty normal day except that Charles came out of no where and decided we were going to barbecue our OWN food for dinner. Mind you, in the 2 years that we’ve lived together, Charles has never shown any interest in barbecuing. So I’m not sure why all of a sudden he did this past Monday but I wasn’t going to complain. We headed to the courtyard of our apartment complex and fired up the community grill.
The verdict on Charles’s grilling skills? Not bad for his first time. The burgers were a little dry but overall, tasty. The hot dogs could’ve been burnt a little more but he doesn’t like them burnt so I let him win that battle. Overall, a pretty good job.
And even if he hadn’t done a great job, I would’ve still told him he did great haha. I’ve learned to never knock down the rare moments when he wants to cook because one negative comment from me = him not wanting to do anything in the kitchen for a long time. Trust me, I know, we’ve been down this road before (chuckles and shakes head). I want to make cooking a positive experience for him so he’ll want to cook more (and so I can cook less haha). If it means giving him compliments on dishes I don’t 100% like then so be it… At the end of the day, love wins over everything and I love that man… Through good cooking and bad cooking, for better or worse.
^^ Grillmaster Charles
And that’s that. My weekend in a nutshell. I’m pretty sure I gained back the 2 pounds I had lost when I weighed in last Friday morning (goes to the bathroom, steps on scale and checks her weight). Correction: I gained 3 as in THREE pounds over the weekend! (O_O) Merp. Gotta get back on the workout grind… But if anybody asks, I don’t regret anything. :)
